Seminar with Noreen O’Meara.
Professor Noreen O’Meara is Synnott Family Chair in European Union Law at University College Cork, Ireland. Noreen is a visiting professor at Stockholm University, contributing to the Masters in European Economic Law programme at the Faculty of Law. With research interests that cross-cut EU, human rights, climate and environmental law, she has particular expertise on connections between rights and the environment, environmental governance and pollution, and relationships between the EU and ECHR.
This seminar will consider recent developments in the post-KlimaSeniorinnen context for climate litigation and climate law in Europe. While most strategic climate litigation is conducted in national courts, the roles of regional and international courts are increasingly important, for contentious cases and/or advisory jurisdiction. Reflecting on developments at the ECtHR, Professor O’Meara will examine the influence of recent case law, and current and potential spillover effects for the EU legal order.
The seminar will be held in the Faculty room, 8th floor, C-house, Stockholm University, Frescati.
Please register by September 23rd. Coffee/tea and sandwiches will be served to registered participants.
Warm welcome!
